Day 4 in Las Vegas saw Mitch Creek and Jonah Bolden takeover the Aussie charge. It was outstanding to see Creek get a chance to lead from the front and gain his first start of the Summer League to date. It was also fantastic to see Deng Adel gain his first opportunity off the bench and grab it with both hands to have a solid contribution against the LA Clippers.
Check out Deng Adel on his performance today:
Mitch Creek (Dallas Mavericks):
START: 18 minutes, 13 points, 7 rebounds
In what was a well earned start Creek didn't take too long show the crowd why he belongs. His energy was infectious and he was very effective shooting 5-7 from the field whilst filling the stat sheet.
Dallas now have moved along to 2-1 with a solid 91-81 win over the Golden State Warriors.
Deng Adel (Houston Rockets):
22 minutes, 11 points, 2 assists, 2 steals
Deng took his opportunity with both hands today after finding the start of the Summer League harder than hoped. Minutes came at a minimum but today he really took the chance to shine.
Finding some real shooting efficiency he shot 2-4 from the field whilst showing his range and shooting 1-1 from deep. What was really impressive was his ability fill holes and hustle on defence creating and causing havoc with 3 steals.
After helping the Rockets climb over the Clippers they are now 3-0.
Jonah Bolden (Philadelphia 76ers)
21 minutes, 10 points, 9 rebounds
There was some real promise from Bolden's showing today. He wasn't stroking the ball like we know he could but he was super aggressive and got to the rim on several occasions.
Philadelphia were over powered and continued their struggles from outside the arc only connecting on 6-25 on the 3 ball and shooting 35.1% overall.
Whilst today wasn't all glory for the Aussies it was great to see Duop Reath and Xavier Cooks share some time on the court. Duop showed his energy and effort plays as a massive asset lining up 6 rebounds on the back of only 10 minutes play. Xavier Cooks also contributed for 10 minutes of game time showing off some range connecting on his only triple and making his own miss on the offensive end count grabbing down the rebound for a put back lay up.
What's next in Las Vegas?
A quieter day for the Aussies with Jack Landale the only one running out.
